Overview

The Director of the Procurement Center of Excellence (CoE) will serve as a strategic leader within the enterprise procurement function, responsible for designing, leading, and continuously improving the tools, processes, policies, and capabilities that enable best-in-class procurement performance across Presbyterian Healthcare Services (PHS). This individual will oversee procurement transformation initiatives, drive enterprise-wide standardization and adoption, and enable high-impact decision-making through analytics and insights.


This role will directly support the entire Enterprise including the health plan and care delivery system procurement teams, fostering a consistent and scalable approach to sourcing, supplier management, category planning, and cost reduction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field.
  • Master's degree (MBA, MS SCM) or professional certifications (CPSM, CSCP, PMP) preferred.
  • 10+ years of procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or CoE-type role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise procurement transformation or operational excellence initiatives.
  • Deep knowledge of procurement processes (S2P, S2C), tools, analytics, and supplier management.
  • Strong analytical, leadership & communication skills.
  • Healthcare, payer/provider, or highly regulated industry experience.
  • Experience with Workday ERP.
  • Familiarity with procurement systems such as Ariba, Coupa, Ivalua, Jaggaer, or similar.
  • Strong change management, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Governance

  • Develop and lead the Procurement CoE strategy aligned with enterprise procurement transformation goals.
  • Establish and maintain procurement policies, standards, procedures, and governance frameworks.
  • Serve as a thought leader and internal consultant to the CPO and business unit leaders.

 

Performance & Analytics

  • Define procurement KPIs, dashboards, and performance scorecards across categories and business units.
  • Build and lead a centralized spend analytics and reporting function.
  • Partner with Finance and IT to validate savings and monitor benefits realization.

Process & Technology Enablement

  • Lead procurement process optimization initiatives (P2P, S2C, SRM).
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize procurement technologies (e.g., eRFx tools, CLM, supplier portals).
  • Champion data integrity and taxonomy standardization (UNSPSC, supplier master data, etc.).

Capability Building

  • Develop and deploy enterprise-wide procurement training programs, playbooks, and toolkits.
  • Support capability assessments and workforce planning for the procurement function.
  • Facilitate best practice sharing, procurement forums, and communities of practice.

 

Change Management & Transformation Support

  • Drive adoption of new tools, processes, and operating models.
  • Support strategic sourcing events and major transformation initiatives with tools, templates, and insights.
  • Work cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, IT, and Business Units to ensure alignment.
